Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then discovered multiple other marked cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials report initial examinations indicate the substance was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; officials are presently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for tips.
An important political figure stated the attack made him without words and required to be solved quickly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he posted on online, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a gunman focusing on residents of migrant background in 2020.
