This Supernatural Story
The acclaimed director tests his creative boundaries with this nifty paranormal narrative shot entirely from the viewpoint of the phantom. When a household including mother Rebekah and her distressed teen Chloe moves into their fresh home, the camera – representing the ghost – tracks their movements. The daughter appears aware of the ghostly being, and it seems protective of her. However, the motive remains? The premise is enjoyable that avoids overstaying, with a twist that may be unexpected. This Saturday, afternoon and evening times, Sky Cinema

This Creepy Thriller
The director's locked-room horror holds up well despite the lack of a continuation. Set in 1978 Denver, multiple kidnappings has made the local kids frightened. When Finney is kidnapped by the kidnapper and held captive in a dungeon, he dreads a terrible outcome. But the disconnected phone mounted nearby continues to ring, with spooky callers giving advice, and the prescient dreams of Gwen, his sister may be his salvation. A solid creepfest. Saturday 11 October, nighttime, on Film4
The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the struggle between faith and wealth, it's a knockout win for materialism in Michael Showalter's brilliantly over-the-top true story about the fallen TV preacher plus her lawbreaking partner. Andrew Garfield portrays the corrupt Bakker, who proclaims early on, claiming divine approval for wealth. He and Tammy Faye set about capitalizing on the American public's Christian beliefs. It's an extravaganza of bad interior design, overdone appearance and bad faith, however Jessica Chastain manages to show the character as a sympathetic figure. Tuesday 14 October, late night, on Film4
